"One store the kids like too!"

The size and elaborate details of this store are amazing.  Even if you don't want to buy anything, it is a neat place visit to see all the amazing animal mounts.  Our family's favorite part is the huge walk through fish aquarium.  They also have a restaurant inside the store on the upper level.  Certain times of the year the crowds can get out of hand, and really take the fun out of the visit, so it's wise to choose your times carefully.

"Love the animals and displays"

Cabela's is a HUGE store in Hamburg, Pa. You can see this store from the highway and it just screams "Come see us!"  We went and it is amazing to see the beautiful displays of the animals in their environments.  The animals are so lifelike that it made a few of the little kids nervous.  Needless-to-say, my husband had a lot more fun than the kids.  They do have a Shooting Gallers and a nice restaurant though!  Although, we may skip it next time we all go on a trip.

"A must for outdoor gear"

Our family has shopped from the catalog forever.  When we were in the vicinity of the store we planned a stop.  Those of you who are into outdoor travel, this is a must see stop!  I was able to get a new pair of hiking boots and special tent pegs for camping on the beach.

This stop is best done with the "divide and conquer" approach.  For best results (with the kids), you need an adult to walk around with them while the other adult gets to shop around.   On the main floor there are large aquarium style fish tanks and a large display of animals.  We were able to occupy the kids for about 45 minutes studying the fish and naming all the animals!

Ready to switch off adults and the kids are tired of the fish?  Head upstairs to the second floor where they have a cafe and grab a snack to recharge.

We experienced long check out lines so have an "escape" plan to the car for your final diversion of the trip.

"A huge nature exhibit's in store for you here!"

While Cabela's is indeed an outdoor-person's one stop shop for supplies, apparel, tools, toys and more, it is also a terrific place to visit even if you don't buy a thing!  I have 2 nieces whose grandparents live near here and they love to take them here just to look!  Why look around at a camping/fishing/boating/hiking store?  Because it's just so much more! And it's FREE!

This Cabela's (it's a chain of 18 stores) has a walk-through aquarium stocked with many interesting fish that are native to Pennsylvania and the region.  You can even see them being fed if you're walking through at the right time.

Further into the store are life sized dioramas of real animals (well they used to be real). Thanks to the help of taxidermists, they're displayed in their native settings with facts/info about each animal. There are many of these incredible displays throughout the store and you'll be amazed at them.  Looks like it should be a museum instead of a store!  Sometimes they have guest speakers, too.

There's a restaurant on the 2nd floor of the store, but I've eaten there, and it's really nothing stupendous.  If you're starving, it's convenient and decent, but don't get excited.

All in all I'd say this is a terrific store.  You can't get better than FREE for admission, either.  It's worth your time if you're in the area to stop in and walk around.  You'll definitely be telling people about your visit here.

"Fun with the Family"

To describe Cabela’s as an outdoorsman’s superstore doesn’t begin to tell the story. In the first year of operations in Pennsylvania, Cabela’s attracted nearly four million visitors.
Come check out the largest of Cabela’s retail stores and the only one in Pennsylvania. This 250,000- square-foot superstore has become a tourist destination in itself. Cabela’s features a huge walk-through aquarium, an indoor mountain complete with waterfall, and more than 800 mounted wildlife specimens in museum-quality dioramas. It also has a shooting gallery, an archery range, and a restaurant.
