Start Designing Your Own Caroler Figurines!
You can visit www.byerschoice.com/giftshoppe and start designing your own Caroler! A great gift for yourself or that special Caroler collector for the holidays!
Out of my entire family I will admit that I was the one most excited to visit here since I collect the Byers' Choice Caroler figurines.
When you walk in it is as if you are walking down a cobbled street with scenes in store front windows. To the right is a theater showing a short movie on the history and how the caroler's are made. Walk down the hall a bit and you will find several rooms with magnificent displays of the Carolers set up. It is a great site for all, even those of you who aren't collectors.
The best part of this experience is the viewing platform where you can look down into the workroom and watch the dolls being assembled. As we learned on the movie, each person has a different job and each finished product is unique. It is really interesting watching it all come to life.
Of course there is a gift shop for those of you looking to add to you collection! Santa may find an item or 2 has been added to my wish list.
If you are in the area it is worth the time to pop in.
We like to visit Byers choice around christmas time when everything is all dolled up and ready for Santa. This is also were we buy our reindeer food every year for santa's reindeer. They have a wonderful gift shop filled with all sorts of goodies. We also like to take a walk through santa's elf exhibit and we always make sure to stop by and try on a hat or two.
Byers Choice is the home of the Byers' Carolers you see during the holiday season. The factory is located in Chalfont, Pennsylvania where you can stop in and see the dolls being handmade. I would recommend it for children over 6, as it's not really hands-on, but it is still interesting. You can view the crafters from the observation deck an then visit the museum and shop. Also, this holiday season they are lucky enough to welcome the great-great grandson of Charles Dickens on site to perform a dramatic one-man show of A Christmas Carol. He will be there the weekend of Dec 11th and 12th, 2009. Tickets are $18 per person and can be purchased thru their website. This truly sounds like a neat experience if you're in the area! I plan to take my 10-year-old daughter and am looking forward to it.
At Byers’ Choice Ltd. the Byers family and their employees hand-sculpt thousands of delightful Caroler figurines every year, giving a percentage of their profits to charity. They invite visitors to watch the delicate faces molded and painted and to tour their gallery of little carolers in various costumes and settings.
Children’s eyes grow wide when they see these tiny landscapes filled with doll-like figures, each one unique, each one singing a Christmas carol. There is also a gift shop and a short movie about the history of the company.
