Absolutely beautiful natural area that allows a family with kids of any age to spend time together without chaos and long lines! There are many different trails and routes depending on your hike time and ability levels, and the kids sleep great afterwards. Also a lovely place to go for a day without the kids! The have nice facilities, concessions, and even a few activities like mini golf and paddleboats. Definitely a good place to go on vacation or if you just need a day outdoors!
Bushkill Falls is a terrific outing for people of all ages. It's a great opportunity to hike or walk as far as your group is interested or able, and make the most of a terrific natural playground. My kids (10, 8 and 4) have gone here twice and love to hike up to the waterfalls and climb all over the rocks and look for creatures big and small (we tend to see mostly small, tho).
Bring your camera for terrific pictures near the various falls and for cute nature shots as well. Don't feel you've got to go everywhere, just start hiking, stop when your kids are interested in stuff, and stop when you're tired or you've had enough. Great views and a chance to get physically active in a terrific natural setting makes for a wonderful family outing.
The Peters family started charging admission to see these eight magnificent falls, sometimes called the “Niagara of Pennsylvania,” on their 300 acres one hundred years ago. The tourists haven’t stopped coming since. Take a short nature walk back to the falls. Small children can usually manage the easy forty-five-minute to one-hour stroll. For the more energetic, there’s a 2-mile hike that affords an even better view. A gift shop, food facilities, picnic area, and restroom facilities are available to visitors. There are also paddleboat rides, fishing, miniature golf, an ice-cream parlor, a Pennsylvania wildlife exhibit, and a Native American exhibit.
