"Fantastic lesson experience"

We've taken many ski and snowboarding lessons at several mountain resorts, so we assumed we knew what to expect from Northstar's Burton Snowboard Academy. Instead, my eight-year-old and I were blown away. This program is the ONLY of its kind, and available only at Northstar. How is it different? It's fully immersive and detail-oriented: when you enroll for the day, you're getting very personalized instruction, help with your equipment, a state-of-the-art snowboarding program designed by Burton, and access to an exclusive snowboarding lodge with lounge and fire pits.

First things first: don't faint at the price. Northstar's lessons are costly, no doubt about it. But a day at Burton Academy is the same price as a regular ski or snowboard all-day lesson, so it's a no-brainer: definitely try the Academy for a snowboarder. If you have 3-4 learners in your group, opt for a private lesson at the Academy instead of the semi-private...you'll actually save money. Plus, the private is the only way to guarantee you get the same instructor on multiple days.

Why my son loved the Academy: he adored his instructor! (Shout out to Emily!) He had so much fun, he was beaming when I met up with him at 4 pm (which is unusual...he's usually tired and a bit grumpy by that time after an all day lesson). And I loved that he learned SO much...even in a semi-private environment. Before his day at the Academy, he'd been snowboarding only once; after, he was cruising down any green run, linking his turns (up to 50 at a time!). His confidence was through the roof.

The Burton teaching technique that's unique to the Academy must have worked, and my son loved the 'club' like atmosphere of the lounge, hot chocolate breaks, and fire pits. Had he needed equipment, that would have come included. For the same price as a standard lesson, absolutely upgrade!
