I wanted to go to a less crowded beach. The beach is small, clean and family friendly. I took my 4 year old daughter and my 14 year old niece. The bathrooms are clean and close by. The parking lot is small and there were no where to park so we had to park on N. Mallory street which is two blocks from the beach. There is a park in front of the beach that is enjoy for the kids. There are two piers one for sight-seeing and one for fishing, crabbing which is $8 for adults $6 for kids and seniors. $1 for sight-see adults and .50 for kids. My daughter brought her kite not knowing their are no kite flying on the beach. The boardwalk is about a mile long. There was a jamacian festival on on this partical weekend. There were lots of food and vendors to choose from.
For starters, the bathrooms are very clean and have a shower head for rinsing off outside. A nice park for children, no graffiti or litter that I noticed. We brought food to grill, and had blast. Although like the previous review said there was no shade. There is a lifeguard on duty, and the pier is just beautiful. It's a peaceful walk to the end, and the water is gorgeous.
My husband and I were married on the pier here. It always brings good memories for us. The beach is clean, but it has been neighboring some construction for a while. During the summer season, lifeguards are on duty and activites include paddle boats. Be advised if you visit the park here (which is fabulous for small children) during the dead of summer, the equipment will be hot and there is no shade at all! Bathrooms and outside rinsing showers are available for visitors. You can also rent a gazebo and grill, or even the pier, but you need to plan far in advance!
