This is definitely a favorite for our family. It probably has something to do with the fact that my husband and I both graduated from there. We love to go the creamery and get BYU ice cream. We also love getting dressed and going to the fantastic lavell edwards stadium for a football game.
We have been students our son's whole life, and we have taken him to campus on many, many occasions. BYU's campus is not very child-friendly, sure you can go eat at teh CougarEat, get ice cream, head all the way up over yonder to the Bean Museum, or explore outside, but other than that, for a college campus with a lot of student parents there are few decent facilities. For example, there is one playground on campus, and the one time we tried to play on it (well after the preschool was closed, and it wasn't locked or anything), we were kicked out by security. Also, there are no facilities for nursing mothers separate from a bathroom anywhere on the whole campus. While I was a student I lobbied to make a room where students and faculty could nurse or pump with a fridge and comfortable chairs, but it was veteoed by the powers that be. Sure, there are couches in the restrooms, but they are usually taken up by snoozing college students.
That said, our son does love to come with us to "school" and explore around the Wilk or Library.
Ever since we moved to Utah from New York our kids beg us All the time to take them to BYU, they Love it! We get new BYU shirts every year right before Football season starts, they love this tradition! We also enjoy hitting up the Creamery, and getting Chocolate Cinnamon bears! We also attend several football and basketball games a year, the kids love Cosmo!
Of course I love visiting BYU. It brings back a lot of great memories, but it is also a great place for kids to learn & visit. They have a variety of museums & hands-on exhibits to explore, plus some traveling exhibits that are always worth checking out. There are great sporting events to watch, and a bookstore for purchasing your favorite memorabilia, but no trip is complete without a stop by at least the candy counter for a treat & for sure the creamery for ice cream. You haven't had ice cream until you've tried some from the BYU creamery. While you're on campus, make sure you find yourself a mint brownie. You'll be back again!
Both my husband and I went to BYU so when we're in Utah county, we both like to walk around campus a bit. The campus is beautiful, particularly during the Spring. The kids enjoy running around of course! We love going by the Wilk- eating at the cafeteria and getting chocolate covered cinnamon bears from the candy store. We also enjoy going in the Art building- they always have pieces done by students on display. Stop by a classroom or two as well- our kids got a kick of knowing Mom and Dad went to school there.
There is always something going on at the BYU campus. You can visit the library, the science building, the art museum, there are plays and musical performances as well as stand-up comedy. There are plenty of places to eat inside the student center and BYU Creamery ice cream is always a must have!
BYU is a great place for families. Our kids love the Bean Museum where you can see many different stuffed animals. They also do a few live animal shows. On campus there is also the Museum of Art, the Science Center, Bowling, Cougareat, Creamery, Theater, sporting events, and different events like the Dancesport competition. A random thing that I like about it is that in the womens bathrooms there are many that have "mothers areas" with chairs, couches, and changing areas. There are also trails like the Y trail for hiking. Fun place.
There are mnay things to do with families at Brigham Young University. There is a giant cougar statue over by the football stadium, you can play with science experiments in the Science Center, you can bowl in the Wilkinson Center as well as go to the bookstore (which has way more than just books and a candy counter). You can also get ice-cream made at BYU in their creamery there. They have a theater in the Wilkinson Center as well. There are many trails all around campus and the lansdscaping is all done very well.
There is no shortage of things for families to do at BYU. Our family has enjoyed the Monte L Bean Museum, bowling at the Wilkinson Center, and countless sporting events. The BYU creamery has one of our favorite ice cream flavors (LaVell Vanilla Bean). If you visit the BYU campus, don't miss the Creamery.
This is the most family-friendly campus there is. Beautiful clean areas that are daily looked after. The building have different things to see inside (ie. Art in the Harris Fine Arts Center, Science projects to "play" with at the Science building) PLUS the BYU Bookstore is the best for showing Cougar Pride! They have the BEST fudge there too! Or get an ice cream as a family! A Great walk around campus, with ducks at the south of it!
