Closed for renovation. Scheduled to reopen Summer 2009.
Of course, it’s not the real ship, but it’s a good facsimile of the Beaver, and the “colonists” on board will retell the story that everyone knows: In 1773, to protest the high taxes imposed on tea, ninety Boston revolutionaries gathered at Old South Meeting House and, accompanied by a large group of sympathizers, made their way to the Beaver, the Dartmouth, and the Eleanor. They slipped aboard and threw the ships’ contents—342 chests of tea—into the harbor.
If you do go on board, the kids will be able to toss “tea chests” overboard themselves.
Fun museum in the form of a docked ship replica. Inside the floating museum, placards and exhibits tell the story of the Boston Tea Party and it's pivotal role in the American Revolution.
The museum is very kid friendly and gets extra point for being a ship!
