LOL. They do have good home made ice cream here... Anyway, this was a nice place to visit but it is a one trip wonder, I wouldn't want to go back and do it again. Theres lots of things to look at and the tour was nice, the staff are very knowledgable and friendly. Nice place to take the kiddos.
The plantation is beautiful! We went during the strawberry festival and there was lots to eat, jump castles and lots of fair type rides. It was absolutely great! My son had a blast! Oh, and the strawberries were great! They also have a store the kids like to go shopping in to pick out fresh grown veggies and fruit!
Boone Hall is only a few miles outside of Charleston and most tourist desire to go visit. We took our kids for the first time this past year. The house is not very exciting, even for me. But on the grounds, the kids will find much more to peak their interest. My kids enjoyed walking through the slaves' cabins. It's a tough piece of history to teach, but wow, does it really speak to their hearts. As well, there is a great Gullah production. Gullah is the language the African slaves spoke in the area. It's a beautiful and fun play and is put on outside under the old live oaks. For this reason alone, I think most kids would enjoy and learn a great deal of history.
