"Absolutely beautiful."

Bonaventure is a beautiful, old cemetery.  The headstones are breathtaking- and so are the views if the river.  Amazing to see history at its best!  The cemetery isnt open 24 hours a day, so check their hours before you visit. A must-see in a Savannah visit.

"Bonaventure Cemetery"

This is a great place for older kids to explore. The graves are very old and you can feel the history as you walk around. I don't recommend taking younger kiddos...the grounds are very uneven and they won't find much of it interesting. Take a camera and go on a grave hunt! We found old, old, old graves that really made for some great shots and also different fonts to take individual letter pics.

"Savannah History"

Bonaventure used to be a private plantatnion, but was purchased to use in a cemetary in 1846.  It is amazing to walk around and see all of the old statues and monuments.  Many are made of marble and are really quite beautiful.

There are daily tours, and you can walk around until it is closing time.  Beautiful Live Oak Trees.  Beautiful monuments and a trip into Savannah's history.  Well worth a trip to see. Was featured in "Midnight in the garden of good and evil".
