We highly recommend the Boise Green Belt! We have gone for walks and bike rides on it, as well as enjoyed the many parks that it connects!
Be sure to go over bike safety rules with your kids and remind them to stay on the right side. There are usually bikers going quite fast!
This is a great way to walk and see birds, creeks, have children play on playgrounds for a bit and just enjoy nature in the heart of the city. I love how beautiful all the trees are. My husband and I walked this with toddler and she loved seeing all the geese and the water.
If you are into roller blading, biking or just want to take a nice walk this is a very nice trail. The trail seemed to be well maintained and follows along a nice river. There are several fun places to stop along the way and take a break. You can do some site seeing along the way also at museums etc.
The Boise Greenbelt is awesome for parents and kids alike. We love walking together, enjoying the views of the river, animal life and greenery around. There are parks with playgrounds along the Greenbelt too! Great place to ride bikes! Highly recommend taking your kids to the Greenbelt for some outdoor fun and fresh air!
This is a GREAT place to take kids! My husband and I bring our sons here on a daily basis in the summer. You can walk, ride bike etc along the greenbelt and see the river, lots of trees, and squirrels. It is a great place to kill some time and wear the kiddos out for nap time ;) There are quite a few monuments and parks to stop in and check out along the path as well.
We were fortunate to live right next to Ann Morrison Park which connects to the Greenbelt. From there, we had easy access to the Civil Rights Memorial, the Boise Broncos football stadium, and various other places along the river in Boise. We loved bike riding and exercising along the Greenbelt, and were really sad that we missed tubing season in Boise. We will go back someday and do it!
The Greenbelt is one of the best things that my wife and I loved about Boise. It is a miles long pathway along the Boise river that is just amazing. The pathway is paved and makes for some enjoyable bike rides with friends and family. Many days and nights were spent on the Greenbelt riding bikes because of the social atmosphere and quality of the path. I love the Greenbelt!
It has been awhile since I have been in ID, but when we lived there we vsisited the greenbelt often. Most of the time we would enter in Garden City, just past the ball park and Le Bois horse race track. We would go riding as a family and we all enjoyed it.
There are places on the greenbelt that are just belt and trees, there are places where you can get some great views of the river, there is a big fountain off the greenbelt along with s few hotels, restaurants and other shops/vendors.
The greenbelt offers a relaxing and family fun way to be active. I miss it!
The path follows the banks of the Boise River from downtown, stretching through the Boise Valley from the Glenwood Bridge on the west to Lucky Peak State Park on the east. It incorporates approximately 25 miles of paved and unpaved pathway. Mile markers along the path are 1/2 mile apart and are numbered consecutively from the Base or Zero marker at the Capitol Boulevard Bridge.
The Greenbelt accommodates walkers, bikers, skaters, joggers, runners, wildlife observers and fishermen. As you stroll the Greenbelt, take time to enjoy any of the twelve parks connected by the path. Many offer picnic areas, playgrounds, open spaces for kite flying or impromptu football games and public restrooms. Bike rentals are available from Bikes 2 Boards (208-343-0208). In-line skates can be rented from Newt & Harold's Boards & Skates (208-385-9300). The path and parks are all wheelchair accessible.
