The rooftop garden of the Walt Disney Concert Hall is open to visitors when there is not a special event (like a wedding reception). Walk through the gardens, the W.M. Keck Children's Amphitheater, and see the fountain dedicated to Lillian Disney.
We almost didn't go up the stairs on the side of the Concert Hall and we would have been so disappointed if we hadn't! When we got to the top of the stairs, we found a whole new world on the roof top behind the crazy sloping panels of the Concert Hall.
Beautiful trees, soft planets, and flowers blended together to make a beautiful environment along with benches and chairs. The highlight was finding the rose shaped fountain in the center that was dedicated to Lilian Disney (Walt's wife) with blue delft plates making a mosaic.
Our kids climbed up the empty seats of the children's amphitheater in the back and we imagined the fun of seeing a play or presentation here. There was a spiral design in the ground nearby which had them all running in circles to follow the path.
It was a delightful place in the midst of downtown LA that we were so glad we did not miss.
