Block Rock park is a great stop for the kids to burn off calories from Kilwin's ice cream shop across the street. The park is well maintained and offers a variety of stations from swings, to climbing walls to play equipment. My kid's favorite was the old style tree climbing. If you didn't bring lunch, stop in the Exxon station on the corner. It's probably the nicest gas station in America, with a stone exterior and gourmet sandwich and wine/cheese shop inside. Of course, there are plenty of great restaurants in Blowing Rock, so take your choice!
It's a nice park right in downtown Blowing Rock. There are volleyball and basketball courts as well as a little rock climbing wall, swing sets, and play sets. They sometimes have performances in the gazebo. It's a nice play to burn off some energy or some calories from Kilwins! If you are in town during a parade, the park is a prime viewing area. You'll need to arrive quite early to get a place to park.
I love love love love this place, i loved going as a child and as an adult and now i can't wait to take my children. the views are just breathtaking and its such a relaxing vacation. this is one of our very favorite places to go on vacation i can not wait to go back
we live pretty close to blowing rock, so go here every few weekends and hang out we ride our bikes alot here! Theres a playgroud for the kiddos, and ducks around the pond to feed! We always end up going shopping after we eat its just a quite relaxing area to be in! Anyone would love it!
Nature, hiking, boating, picnics, all sorts of activities. There are waterfalls, a lake, and you can spend no money if you bring food in. Children of all ages will have fun. This is where the movie Last of the Mohicans was filmed. It's beautiful and even if you are driving through NC you should try to make a stop there.
I LOVE the Blowing Rock Park! It is right in the middle of the beautiful main street with all of its fun shops and sights, but above it in a scenic setting. We love to go here in late afternoon and have a picnic, play and explore. There are plenty of play things for the kids to climb on, and the local entertainment will keep the adults busy too!
Despite it's name - not a cemetary. A great park on Main Street to hang out , walk, take pictures in the gazebo or around the lake with ducks and geese. And, there's even a public swimming pool. Beautiful and relaxing with a 2 year old who'd been in the car for a long time travelling.
