Once a "ski resort" the snow has melted into gushing water slides, and is a water wonderland for the whole family to enjoy.
Blizzard Beach is our favorite waterpark in Central Florida.
It offers rides/attractions for all ages from thrills to family oriented to two youth areas - one for the tiny tots and one for older kids.
Several food locations found throughout the park provide faster service meals such as pizza, hotdogs, sandwiches. Not interested in that? You can pack your lunch and bring it in! We do.
Our two favorite things to do at Blizzard Beach?
1. The lazy river is long and fun, but like any other lazy river, it can become quite crowded. It travels along the park hitting a couple of waterfalls and a cooling cave.
2. Blizzard Beach boasts the longest family ride, and i believe it. Fitting 4-6 people per raft, Teamboat Springs is the first line we stand in when we visit. It's just simple fun. It's not a "big" thrill. It brings about lots of laughs. My youngest is four years old and she loves it.
Blizzard Beach provides life vests for the young ones on a first come, first served basis. There are plenty. Lockers and premium seating are available at a cost.
This water park is awesome, there are so many "cool" details and awesome rides. There are also some amazing water slides... I think maybe they boast the tallest in the the US? Or fastest? I can't remember, but I do know that I chickened out at the top ;) Though my nine-year-old brother went, even as an adult I was too scared of heights to go down, it's that tall! But I did enjoy the family rides and some of the milder slides.
Ok, maybe I am a wimp, but these water slides were intense. I could also be that I live in OR and we have no water park. The lazy river was awesome though! LOL
We didn't go in the wave pool but everyone looked like they were having alot of fun! A quick tip...on the bus back to the resort, we were talking with a family that had left some money in their pockets while they went on the slides and wave pool, and they lost it ALL...so, just make sure that you get a locker right when you walk in, and all should be well...
Our family has visited Walt Disney World many times, but we had never taken time from the "big 4" main theme parks to try the Disney water parks. We knew they would be great. After all, they are Disney. But I still hesitated to take time away from the 4 theme parks. Big mistake!
Blizzard Beach is a great way to spend a day in Orlando. With a ticket there costing only a little more than half that of a theme park, it is also a good value. Our family includes myself, my husband, and our 3 kids age 13, 11, and 7. There is truly something for everyone. BB is themed as a one time ski resort that has melted into a bunch of slopes-turned-slides. It offers an area for the tiniest guests to the thrill seekers. At 120 feet high, summit plummet is a heart-stopping drop I won't soon forget! Most of the park is somewhere between mild and wild. Our 7 year old has enjoyed everything at the park with the exception of summit plummet and slush gusher. She meets the height requirement, but I feel they are still too intense for her. Our favorite ride is teamboat springs which is billed as the world's longest family water raft ride. We really enjoy getting to ride that one together instead of waiting at the bottom of a slide for everyone to come down individually. The lazy river style cross country creek is another family favorite. Be sure to keep an eye out for the chilly drips in the cave and sprayers along the side from time to time.
BB has plenty of food options, clean changing rooms, and friendly cast members to make your visit enjoyable. Free life vests are available to borrow as well. Take a day and try BB out sometime. You'll be glad you did!
Disney nailed it with their themed water park! I haven't been to the others but this one is fantastic. Like all things Disney it's the details that make this park so great. They even wrote a back story to explain the snow storm that hit Florida. The slides are all really fun, especially the bob sled races that clock your time. And, it is very clean...a major plus. If you take a trip to the magic kingdom this is one park not to be missed!
You won't find a water park better than blizzard beach, not in the united states anyways. Blizzard beach is so much fun and is best to get a season pass if you live close by or in the florida area, you will want to be there everyday. We live in ohio so we can't go often but we have gone 3 times and are planning on going again next summer. They have everything, all kinds of water slides, pools, lazy rivers, water rides, hot tubs, and huge area for the kids. The staff are awesome and very friendly, they also like to join in on the fun. My kids never want to leave when we go down there, we get there early and we leave late.
Everyone in my family is crazy about water and water slides. This park is one of the best that we have ever been to! My daughter (2 at the time) just adores the water and wanted to try the waterslides so badly. At most water parks, she isn't allowed on the slides because she isn't tall enough. Not so at Blizzard Beach! She had a blast going down almost all the slides (especially the racing slides) and the guards were wonderful with her.
The kids swimming hole is fabulous and there is a ton of stuff there for all swimming abilities. Probably the best part for all of us to enjoy as a family is the lazy river. It is just wonderful and we had a great time.
There is plenty of shade for everyone and plenty of sun for those who don't want the shade. There are also plenty of benches and picnic tables.
We loved Blizzard Beach, the decor is amazing and Disney did a wonderful job with this waterpark. I spent the day there with my 3 year old who loved the kids area. She also loved the fact that she was at a waterpark that was covered in snow, she thought it was the funniest thing. I love how even though I spent most of my time in the kids area, I did not feel like I wasted my money there, my child had a great time and sometimes that is all that matters. This park is great and is an awesome way to relax instead of spending the day at a theme park.
We went to Blizzard Beach on a recent trip to Disney. Having been to Typhoon Lagoon at Disney before and loving it we were apprehensive about trying something new. We loved it. The older kids likes Summit Plummet, a gigantic and steep slide that their mother would never go on. There was also a zip line plunge that was only for those under 5ft so even though I wanted to I could not try. However we all had fun in the lazy river and were able to find a secluded area to eat, rest and stretch out. We also brought our own meals so I cannot comment on the food but I will say that life vests and photogs for the Disney photopass were readily available so we got good shots without needing our own camera!
There are a few Disney Water Parks and this one is great! There are so many slides and activities here. Lots to do for big people and children. Because it is the "newer" of the water parks it tends to be a little more crowded than Typhoon Lagoon. Plan a flexible vacation and pick a "sunny" day to go to the water park. You can dodge the rain at the other parks like the Magic Kingdom etc. But at the water parks if there is severe rain/lightening you have to get out and sit and wait. So try to hit the water park when the weather looks the best.
This place was awesome!!! I loved the theme.. being from Colorado! Super fun age appropriate acquatic attractions! My ONLY complaint is all the walking up-hill you have to do to get to the really fun water slides/rides. I have weak ankles, and I wasn't having it. If your joints are in good working condition, and you can do the cardio.. you won't have any issues!
My husband and I took our 2 year old here and we really had a great time. The employees were awesome. the water slides were a lot of fun. They have a section just for small kids. We rode a family ride too that was exhilerating. If you are having trouble deciding on which disney waterpark to go to BB is by far the best in my opion! Especially if you have younger kids!
A private cabana at Blizzard Beach is outstanding and well worth it! Lazy river is great and very relaxing. Wave pool is nice and the larger slides are great for the adventurous one in the family. Kiddie play area is fun for the little ones and great food/snacks.
Great water park ! Excellent rides the lazy river is the best one in orlando, a lot better than the poor one at aquatica which you go round without a tube. food is great and you take your own drinks and food into all disney parks as long as there no glass (which you can't do in aquatica). I highly recommend this water park for families with small children.
Its a good beach. You can float lazily in tubes or ride roler coasters. Its fun for family or maybe just you and a friend.Good icecream and drinks. Its a good vacation just waiting to happen .Your kids will love your husband will love it YOU will love.So what are you waiting for!?,start packing!
