The Birth Home of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., may be visited only with a park ranger led tour. The tours are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Register for the tour at the National Park Service Visitor Center in person upon arrival to the park. The tour is strictly limited to 15 people per tour! They fill up fast on weekends and holidays.
The house and walking tour is an interesting piece of history, but more appropriate for older kids seeking a historical visit or learning opportunity. There are plaques in and around the tour that show you how the history is intermingled within the area. There are some great photography opportunities, so bring a camera! Pair with the MLK museum for a sobering reminder of the impact of MLK on American history.
