Bella Organic is a Certified Organic Farm on 100 acres of organic ground located on the beautiful Sauvie Island in the city of Portland. Bella Organic’s goal is to promote responsible, Organic, and sustainable farming practices. We are now in our 5th season. We now grow 50 varieties of fruits, herbs, and vegetables. We grow a large variety of organic products for the U-Pick and We-Pick as well as for the local retail and wholesale markets.
We also share our land with other farmers who wish to grow organically and just starting their farming business with the hope of one day owning their own farm . this year we are starting a community garden for our customers who wishes to grow their own vegetables and want to join our expanding farmers family.
We are certified by the Oregon tilth and use product approved for organic farming .we believe that when you spray synthetic chemicals to kill harmful bugs, you also end up poisoning and killing the bugs that are good and useful to farming and then expose your consumers to these harmful chemicals. Nature has always manage to find a balance.

...so this place was great! We were about a week ahead of schedule for the blueberries (which I was really hoping for) and the raspberries were a bit sparce, but we managed to pick 2 lbs (which costed us $3 total...can't beat that!).
They were certified organic about 2 years ago, and the plants are a bit small, but in the next couple of years they are really going to get big and be great. The nice thing was, the plants were close to the ground so 'F' had no trouble picking his own berries to eat. I did feel a bit like I was living out 'Blueberries for Sal' with him digging into my bucket to eat the berries I had picked all of the time (I guess it was easier than picking them and he was assured they would be ripe)!
One thing though, I wasn't being stuck by the raspberry plants as much as I was by some of the weeds. I suppose that comes along with picking at an organic place, but just beware.
The farm has loads of offerings, so we will be sure to go back again and do some more picking. They had strawberries ready also (they looked nice, but 'F' is allergic to them, so we tend not to have them in the house). They have other fruits and veg (check their website).
The folks working there are really nice too. One fellow pointed me in the direction of the raspberries (he actually walked us out there) and picked a couple for 'F' to eat...just to get us started.
Two notes:
1) There is currently a lot of road construction along Hwy 30, so be prepared for that (summer 09).
2) They are actually on Gillihan Road (there is a typo above, just in case your GPS doesn't know what you are talking about).
