The 3,503-acre park is in the midst of the Lost Pines area of Texas, a loblolly pine woodland isolated from the main body of East Texas piney woods. It’s the most westerly stand of loblollys in the state. The rugged hills and quiet woodlands are a perfect retreat. Overlooking a small lake are thirteen rustic cabins with cooking facilities—the perfect place for a family to relax for a day or two. The park also has a swimming pool, two children’s wading pools, a nine-hole golf course, picnic tables, and modern restrooms with hot showers. Even if you don’t golf, you might want to walk thecourse as it winds through tall pines and crosses steep ravines. If you have older children, you might be interested in biking along the hilly parkroad system that connects Bastrop and Buescher State Parks.
