"Teriffic Trees"

We found it interesting how Banyan trees grow...their vines hanging down and rooting themselves in the ground, creating a larger and larger banyan tree (interms of width).  Tress standing beside one another sometimes end up creating one tree.
These particular Banyans are named after famou persons.  It is fun to find celebrity names you and your family recognize..  Other than that, after you see one tree, the place itself is not that great.

"Great for all ages"

The young and the old will be awed by a short walk down historic Banyan Drive. Each majestic tree is named after a famous politician, movie star, athletic hero, or other celebrity and was dedicated when its namesake visited Hilo. Some of the more famous trees were planted by Richard Nixon, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Babe Ruth, and Amelia Earhart. The series of banyans forms a green canopy that’s quite picturesque.
