We enjoyed the shell museum after picking up so many different shells on the island. They had a small room for kids that you could color, do puzzles, and a small tank with animals but you could not touch. There was a guide who kept very close watch over us and even made sure that we took the puzzle pieces out again after each puzzle. It wasn't as hands on as I would have liked, but fine for older children who are truly interested in shells.
I definitely didn't expect what we found at the museum. I was captivated by the Sailors Valentines. I wanted to go back and sort all my shells to see what I could do with them! It truely inspired the whole family and the kids loved learning about the "insides" of shells. Great staff, very patient with kids. Nice gift shop.
After culling the beach for shells, your youngsters will enjoy learning more about their finds. Especially for them, a Children’s Science Lab offers toddlers hands-on learning experiences in colorful reef-motif surroundings. But the touch table is under glass, so really it’s just a “look table,” and the museum eliminated the find-the-shell sticker game that kids loved. Kids under age seventeen get to pick two freeshells. Other aesthetically arranged exhibits and vignettes examine the role of shells in natural and social history.
