I would highly discourage any person from booking a birthday party here. Be prepared to pay for every single person who enters and re-enters the facility. This will pose a problem to a host with parents who choose to drop off their children. Staff here are bent on taking advantage of your wallet. Besides the ridiculous tactic used here to charge you, your birthday party coordinator is incredibly rude and insensitive and does not have an accommodating approach to your party needs. Lastly, the party room/train was rented with extreme filth and in need of a facelift.
At just 2, our son thought this was a fabulous find. You can ride a real train, see miniature train displays and go through numerous full size old engines. For the adult, the history is fascinating. I loved being able to be inside the old roundhouse.
My 3 year old son is an absolute train fanatic. He loves everything about trains, not Thomas train, but real trains. This place is his heaven. There are so many huge, old trains. The exhibits are good, but could be very boring if your kids aren't into trains. They offer a 20 minute train ride through Baltimore and then back to the museum. My kids liked riding on the train, though it was kind of a slow ride, so after about 10 minutes, they were getting antsy. The entrance cost is a little steep, but it is worth seeing at least once. Bring a stroller, there is plenty of room and ramps to get around.
I have a little boy who is everything cars, trains, trucks, motorcycles, and so on, and we knew this was the perfect place to take him. The amount of trains here is amazing and its so nice that you can take a ride on those outside! Great place for boys who love boy things. It's amazing how these things are put together and even as a mom I was entertained the whole time. Son loved it and we go each year around Christmas!
There are many trains outside but the best part is the beautiful roundhouse that you and explore. There are trains inside as well and you can go on them. If you have train loving kids, this is fantastic. I heard about it from a friend who lives in Baltimore and she was going to rent out the round house for a different type of party. The adults and kids found it interesting.
