We recently moved to Austin and we were so thrilled that our membership card to another children's museum is usable to Austin Children's Museum. I have two little girls (ages 3 and 4). There is HOURS of fun to tire out your little ones. TONS of hands-on fun and it is educational at the same time. Their favorite parts are the pretend cafe, the train table and the train on the second level that they can drive via remote.
We have a membership to the museum and my kids love it there. I have 3 boys, ages 7, 4 and 9 months. All 2 enjoy the hours we spend there. It's great that the museum has worked out a parking deal. I do not enjoy the constant construction going on but hopefully that will end soon.
A lot of children's museums aren't that impressive. This is one of the better ones. Lots for kids of all ages to do, and when everything is in good working order, a lovely place to get away with the entire family and do some bonding! Sometimes things are broken, though, which is always a let down. Overall a great place.
Great place for birthday parties. The kids have a blast and can play for hours. The only thing is the parking is a pain. The staff is really friendly and is always willing to help. There is also a small gift shop if you want some type of remembrance.
What a great place to spend some time. Reasonably priced with deals at times for discounts. Last time we went you could get a free ticket by bringing recyclable items to be used for the kids free crafting area. Many different options of activities for toddlers through school age kids.
This is one of our favorite childrens museums. It has a craft room where they can make anything their heart desires out of recycled items. They also love the tube that sucks up the milk bottles. They have story time and other scheduled activities. They were entertained for hours!
We love going to the Austin Children's Museum and although it's on the smaller side, they change their exhibits quite often and make them very attractive to young children. There is usually a special art activity and story time when we've been there which my kids always love. The preschoolers love the train at the top and can stay up there for hours!! Very clean, creative space that changes enough to keep families coming back often.
after going to the houston childrens museum while living in galveston, the austin childrens museum is a bit disappointing. the general up keep isnt there, and the attractions rarely change, my girls would rather go to zilker, or the austin zoo than make the drive to go to the museum.
We visited during Spring Break and took our 3 year old and 12 year old. Our 12 year old was a bit old for most of the exhibits but it was perfect for 3 year old. Unfortunately, A LOT of the exhibits were broken, missing parts, or just plain not working. This was pretty disappointing. It's a great concept, but unfortunately our 3 yr old began losing interest in the whole place after each thing she attempted to interact with was again, 'not working'.
It was about $6 for adults a bit cheaper for kids, took about 1-2 hr. to get through it.
The Austin Children's Museum is a great place for little kids to expand their knowledge about science while having a good time. There is ALWAYS lots of different things to do and it's pretty cheap. Also, there is one day out of the week where you can get in for free. Be sure to visit the 2nd floor ( I think it was the coolest as my kids enjoyed it the most ). Parents wll also enjoy the landscape of downtown Austin while driving. They try to have different exhibits every once in a while so if you plan on going there twice you might see different things. It is overall, a fun place.
The Austin Children’s Museum moved into an expanded facility, showcasing a fasci-nating collection of hands-on exhibits where kids can climb, touch, and play to their hearts’ content. The focus is on cultural diversity and science. Unique features include model cities and weather galleries.
This place is GREAT. There are a couple of permanent exhibits such as a train, a kitchen and an area for kids under 3 (to keep them out of the way of the bigger kids) but the museum is contantly changing so kids won't ever tire of this place! Recent exhibits have included a bus that kids could "drive" and a ball pit that had "red" and "white" blood cells in it. Around the holidays they do Gingerbread House Workshops. My son and I have really enjoyed those. There are plenty of places to eat around here too. Good place to go in the summer to stay cool or on a rainy day!
