The Aspen Recreation Center has a rock climbing tower, swimming pools, ice skating rinks, weight and fitness rooms, sledding, cross country skiing and tennis facilities for any sports enthusiast. When you are not swimming down the lazy river, sliding down the incredibly curvy slide or getting water bucket dumped on your head you can be sledding down the Whoa Nelly Hill and skating from inside to out without taking off your skates.
OHHHH the ARC. Pack your car and be prepared to sled down Whoa Nelly hill, go ice skating where you can skate inside and outside without taking off your skates.
The climbing Wall will give your child a thrill when she scales up to ring the bell and the attendees are so patient letting them go again and again.
The indoor pool with doors that open up to the outside in the summer has a lazy river and fountains that spill over you when you least expect it and the slide rocks!
The Aspen Recreation Center or ARC as locals call it is a beautiful facility and if you are only in town for a week, not at all worth the price. It has a rock climbing wall, and ice skating rink, a huge pool for kids, and work out spaces for adults. You can access the ARC easily by taking the free buss from downtown Aspen or drive or bike to the ARC which is just out of town. However, a hike on one of the many trails would be easier, cheaper, and perhaps just as enjoyable for your family. I do not recommend going even though the staff is helpful and the facilities top notch.
