The Hallam Lake ACES has a half-mile loop nature trail is available for all visitors. This trail meanders in and out of wetlands and includes stops at various observation decks. On any given day, a variety of birds and mammals can be seen feeding at the water's edge. In the wintertime, snowshoe tours and ski tours are available
What could be more educational than taking your children outside for the day with mellow mannered, funny, nature and children loving guides? Nothing!
The children follow the trail around Hallam lake with cattails rising out of the water. The path winds over little wooden bridges and the guides stop along the way to make teepees and teach about the wonders of natures from animal habitats to vegetation.
At the trail end there are cages of various birds that have been saved from being injured in the wild and the children can watch an owl turns its head all the way around and discover the other magnificent birds up close.
There is a museum filled with animals that have been sent to the taxidermist after death for educating purposes and a tiny shop that offers a wealth of information through books and brochures of other environmental programs offered in the valley.
Take your child over to Aces non-profit organization whose mission "is to inspire a life-long commitment to the earth by educating for environmental responsibility, conserving and restoring the balance of natural communities, and advancing the ethic that the Earth must be respected and nurtured."
