The Armand Bayou Nature Center is a rare place, a true wilderness in the middle of one of the largest urban areas in the United States. The 1,900-acre park showcases native plant and animal life in three different ecosystems that coexist within the park: hardwood forest, tallgrass prairie, and estuarine bayou. The twisting arms of the bayou give your family the chance to get out in the middle of all the wildness in a canoe. Sightings of blue herons, ospreys, gars, and even alligators are common.
