Anini Beach is another one of those wholly picturesque North Shore beaches. Anini is known islandwide as the best place to learn how to sailboard because the winds are gentle but steady, and it’s fairly shallow and protected. Additionally, the longest exposed reef on Kauai makes it a great place for snorkeling. The beach features restrooms, picnic tables, grills, and a pavilion.

For sailboarding lessons contact Anini Beach Windsurfing, 826–9463. Kids must be at least sixty-five pounds, and it costs $65 for a three-hour introductory lesson. Hours vary, but the company is located right on the beach. Windsurf Kauai, 828–6838, also headquartered on the beach, offers a three-hour class for $60. Children must be at least seven years old.
