Come spend a day she’ll never forget. From exploring the worlds of her favorite characters to dining with her doll to celebrating her birthday, your American girl’s dreams can come true!
This new location is AMAZING!!! The old location was awesome as well, but this one is beautiful. You walk in and you will see all the history that surrounds these dolls. They have the dolls for sale and any accessories you would want. Then as you continue to walk you will go upstairs to the "Just like me" section. This is where you can buy more clothes, bed, hair things, etc. You will also find the dolls that are meant to look like you. It is fun to have your child pick out a doll that looks like her. As you continue towards the back you will find the beauty parlor, hospital, bakery, and cafe. It is so much fun. We can spend hours in just this store.
WOW!! This place is so much fun!!! As a fan of the American Girls myself when I was younger we had a great time!!! They have everything you can imagine for the dolls there. Each kid can get a passport and put stickers of the things they love the most in the store. They also have a cafe and various activities for girls to do with their dolls...very very fun!!!
Yes it cost a small fortune.
But if made out to be a SPECIAL occasion trip, American Girl Place will create memories for you and your girl(s) that are totally priceless. My girls each have a doll, and they are totally aware how special they are. They get it and treasure everything about it. The cafe is a must. And the historical doll displays are delightful! I am so happy to have girls to do this with!
Was my little girl in heaven when I took her here or what??! She loved it- and is still talking about it. It is so much fun and I even enjoyed myself. The amount of dolls and honest girl-time fun is outstanding. The drive isn't too far from OH, and the trip home is full of memories and good times! I definitely think all girls should get a chance to go.
We took my 5-year-old daughter to American Girl Place for her birthday last year and I can't say enough good things about it! We went to tea in the Cafe. They have the most adorable little chairs for the girls' dolls so they can "eat" at the table with you. We ate little tea sandwiches, breads and scones, and then adorable little desserts. The clothing and accessories are pricey, but for a special occasion I can't say enough good things about going for a meal. It's a trip your little girl will never forget!
The only drawback is that the traffic in Chicago is terrible and we were almost late for our reservation. I would recommend staying downtown instead of in the suburbs like we did.
My three daughters think this is the second best place on earth. Disney world being the best. They love this place. They are spolied here though and it is not cheap. But the lunch with the dolls is very worth it, Getting the dolls hair done is also a highlight of the day. Be prepared to spend alot of money though for the full experience. But you do not want to skip the lunch it is so much fun for them
Okay, I didn't grow up in the US, so for me this place is a cultural experience.
Every little girl's dream: you can create your own doll. Choose hair color, eye color, etc. There are probably a million permutations and combinations. There's a hospital, a hairdresser, and you can have lunch with your doll. You can get matching outfits, accessories, and anything imaginable (furniture!) for the dolls.
Personally as a parent I dread the day my daughter's friends will start wanting them because (and I know this is inevitable) my daughter will want one. And at $100 a pop, mommy and daddy will not be purchasing it. But I'm sure grandparents will step in :)
I took an Italian friend of mine there when she came to visit, and she was taking photos and saying "incredible, incredible....!!" the whole time. In a good way :)
I went here for the first time with a friend for her two daughters (mine was only 2 1/2 and not ready for the whole AG doll thing yet). This is a treat. if you want to do the lunch/brunch make sure to get a reservation plenty in advance of your trip because they book up quickly. We are going back for my daughter's 3rd bday for brunch with a friend. Boys are most likely not going to like this place but there are plenty of other stores in Water Tower Place (including a Cubs store) for them to browse.
Definitely worth a trip if you have little girls. But be ready to make major purchases when you're here. This is the only place that sells girls clothes that can match their dolls. A little girls dream come true! In peak season make sure you're ready for the crowds. After shopping you can book a reservation in their in-door restaurant.
The Peek into the Past features human-size models of rooms from the homes of the American Girl characters, for example, Kirsten’s log cabin, Samantha’s Victorian parlor, and Molly’s World War II era living room. If your doll is having a bad hair day, you can take her to the Doll Hair Salon for a new do, at a cost of $10 to $20. There’s even a Doll Hospital where you can drop off a patient and have her shipped home a couple weeks later once her wounds have been mended.
Ok, I admit it, my daughter was already a huge American Girl fan before we went here the first time as her birthday present, but this is a great place. We spent an entire day here. She loved looking at the dioramas of each doll, went to the resturant and (back when they had the theatre saw a show) You can get your picture taken with your doll in the photo studio, get your doll's hair done in the beauty salon or get a doll fixed in the hospital. There are of course all kinds of things to buy, and the day is not cheap, but it is worth it when your child looks at you and says "This was the best day of my life." Parking is a bit easier now that it is a Water Tower Plaza. Check out the website before you go, make your reservations if you are going to eat and check out the menu. Also, they have many in store activities and packages with area hotels.
