"Not your average playground!"

We love the playground at this park because it really brings out the imagination in kids! Rather than the standard slides, swings, etc., this playground offers hammock type chairs that kids can swing in, flat counters where kids can pretend to serve up ice cream or drive rocket ships, steer boats, twirl on whirly gigs, and even roll down the side of a cushioned hill. And, the best part is the rotating fountain - magical just to look at if you forget your swim suit! There are plenty of pathways to stroll around and burn off some energy and grass areas to fly kites, play frisbee, or picnic. As previous posters mentioned, the area around this park is very urban, so make sure to bring a friend. Also, use the restrooms before visiting as these are not well kept.

"America the Beautiful park is fun, but kind of sketchy location"

We enjoyed America the Beautiful Park because it has lots of different things to play on than the average park.  Our kids really enjoyed it the first time, and we went back a few times after that.  However, be aware of your surroundings.  It is not located in the greatest part of town, and we tend to run into homeless people there on a regular basis

"Nice, modern playground"

If the city's budget allows, you'll be treated to the giant circular fountain at ATB park before you even arrive.  In the summer, it's a favorite spot for locals to come and splash.  The play area is new and rather large, though not well shaded.  The ground surface is mostly wood chips with a cement walkway through it--not exceptionally wheelchair-friendly or accessible, though many of the structures are low.  The park can be somewhat tricky to access, depending on traffic, though you can also bike to it via the trail that runs along the east side of I-25.

"America the Beautiful Park is fun!"

We really enjoy this park.  The play equipment is plentiful and nice for multiple ages.  And there's lots of seating for the parents (although that's one of my small gripes with this park- it would be nice to have more covered seating close to the playground just because of the glaring sunshine).  My favorite feature of this park- In the summer there is a really fun splash area.  I do wish it was closer to the playground (so one kid could play there and one on the playground if they wanted to), but it's still a really nice splash park.  We really enjoy it!

"Serves as a central play area for Colorado Springs"

America the Beautiful Park is a central meeting place for all sorts of Colorado Springs events. There's something for every age and ability (including the adults). It's a futuristic-looking play area, circular in shape, split in half by a winding walkway. The massive Julie Penrose Fountain opened in June 2007 and provides a backdrop for farmer's markets, concerts and festivals on the lawn.

One side of play area is for toddlers and young children, featuring a number of slides, two swings, a helicopter, boat, and car-shaped equipment. The playscape closer to the street is more focused on climbing for older children with a few swings and spinning equipment. An ideal park for the parent who wants to have an eye on their children at all times. You can sit on a bench in the middle of the park or at a picnic table and have a view of all the action. Kids get a lot of exercise running between, under, and over all the equipment.

Be Aware: It's a very popular park and can become busy at times. It's also a field trip destination for day care and camps, so it can be a little overwhelming for small children when the big kids arrive.Contrary to city code, dogs are often off-leash here.I would caution mothers not to visit this park when there is no one present since it's a bit secluded.

Restrooms right off the play area.

"Very Different!"

This fantasy built park is awesome!! The kids (and myself) love how they engineered this fantasy type play structures. There are boats, houses, or whatever you imagine it to be. Could use a little more shade, but is definitely a lot of fun! When it is really hot you can take the kids to play in the fountain which is awesome. There are restrooms as well. Great playground for all ages.

"Amazing Park!"

The America the Beautiful park in downtown Colorado Springs is amazing!  On the left side they have a HUGE fountain for kids to run around and splash in.  On the right they have the playground area, which has amazing equipment.  There are slides, merry-go-rings, lots of swings and climbing areas.  There is also a special area for little toddlers.  There are a few picnic tables with shade, but other than that, there isn't much shade to be found elsewhere.

"One of the very best parks, period"

This park is so gorgeous. The play area is SO fun, lots of unique climbing apparatus and twisty spin-y fun. I always have to drag my kids away with a promise to return soon. There is a huge grassy area where concerts are held and a fountain that spins and you can see Pike's Peak through the circle of the fountain. The kids love to play in the water of the fountain during the summer.  We love this park!
