This is a great place to unwind and explore a little history while you are at it. Great for ALL ages. There are trails to walk/hike, a playground to play on and a wonderful Historic Village to explore. The village takes you back in time and gives you a glimpse of how life was when this was a working village. You must stop in the bakery for a sweet treat and in the general store to look arounds. Volunteers are present in the Blacksmith Shop and other buildings for demonstrations.
When you have tired of the village take a ride on the historic train. This is a favorite of ours and during Christmas you can even ride with the jolly man in red himself.
This is a wonderful place for children to learn about our past. They can watch the carpenters work, or the black smith working in his shop. All of the workers are clad in the clothing or the times. It is a wonderful walk around the beautiful park. I strongly suggest hitting the bake shop and gift shop. The cookies at the bake shop are the best!!! There is a church that on occasion you can actually see a real wedding. Ride the old time train around the park (small fee here). Check the website as they have different things going on. There is a playground and lots of picnic tables.
