All About Kids Tahoe provides childcare services in the Lake Tahoe area. Their sitters will go to your home or hotel room to care for your child bringing along age appropriate toys and activities to keep your child happy and engaged all day.
During our recent visit to Tahoe, we had two wonderful babysitters from All About Kids babysit our 17 month old baby girl. We have two older kids who ski and snowboard and my husband and I really wanted to spend some time together on the slopes instead of tag teaming for child care. Thanks Ruth and Kayla we had two wonderful ski days, while our baby had a happy day in the care of two wonderful sitters.
The first thing that really struck me about Ruth and Kayla was how quickly they were able to set our little one at ease. Our baby’s been going through a little bit of stranger anxiety, but there was something about both these gals that she couldn’t resist. They called ahead the night before to confirm that they were coming and to ask a few questions to make sure they were prepared. We didn’t bring any toys with us, but they came with a bag full of age appropriate toys and some crafts. As soon as they brought them out, our little girl was off playing and didn’t care at all that we were taking off.
We were staying at the Tahoe Ridge Resort in a condo unit, so there was lots of room for Ruth and Kayla to hang out with baby. It was wonderful to have a sitter come to the condo instead of dropping her off at the daycare because our baby didn’t have to transition both to a new place as well as strangers. She could take naps in a quiet place and on her own schedule. Last year, we had her at the Heavenly Nursery, and while they took great care of her, she barely napped all day.
I’ve always been hesitant to leave my babies with total strangers, but it felt good to know that All About Kids had background checked these sitters. They also take their sitters through a rigorous hiring process and will only hire sitters with a breadth of experience working with kids of many different ages. If you book them far enough in advance, you can even request a specific sitter and for someone consistent for multiple days. The process of booking the sitter took a few days of emailing back and forth with the main office. But once everything was set, we were very happy with our experience. Ruth and Kayla were professional, well trained, warm, friendly, and punctual. They asked all the right questions in the beginning of the day and offered to send updates throughout the day if I wanted it. But the most important thing is that when I returned, my baby girl was all smiles and well rested.
All About Kids does cater to children with special needs, but be sure to be honest and upfront about the needs of your child to make sure that they their sitters are equipped to care for those needs. In South Lake Tahoe, the only ski resort offering childcare for children under 3 is Heavenly Ski Resort. In North Lake Tahoe, the only one is Northstar. So, if you’re looking for childcare for your baby, I definitely recommend calling upon the services of All About Kids.
Hourly rates start at $21/hour for one child. There are also booking fee $20 plus $5 for each additional days booked at the same time, traveling fees and sick child fee. The rates seem fairly reasonable when you compare it to a group day care setting at a ski resorts that would cost $130 and offer you much less flexibility. Although I felt guilty leaving my baby all day while we all off having fun together on the slopes, returing to a child who obviously had a wonderful day apart from us, was be worth every extra penny.
