The Alderhouse is an open studio welcoming visitors to watch as craftspeople ply the 2000 year-old art of turning molten glass into beautiful objects.
I love visiting this place. It is just out of town just off of HW 101 and is well worth the trip! Watch for the turn off as it comes up quick.
It is placed in a old wood barn looking structure among the trees. When you get inside you will be treated to a glass blowing demo and will be delighted to see all their glass creations that you are actually encouraged to touch (which really causes me distress with little ones!) The people there are great and are very friendly. It is always nice to see a "Please Touch" sign vs. a "You Break it You Buy it" one. We went with my one year old and 11 year old sister. My sister loved watching them make the glass. Even my little girl was enthralled by the glass creations. Great place to pick up a souvenir float or a great quality piece of glass art. They offer many items in a wide price range, but remember it is handmade art and isn't always inexpensive. However, they do accept credit cards, and if I remember correctly they will ship your purchases if you chose to do so.
