This beach is protected by an offshore reef making it safe for kids.  There are also many tide pools and an inlet that kids enjoy at this beach.  Sea turtles often feed on the limu (seaweed) here. This is a good snorkeling beach. Nearby is the brackish pool known as Queen’s Bath.  This beach is also surrounded by remnants of ancient Hawaii, from stone house ruins to old fishponds and bird nests.  The Aiopio Beach is part of the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park, a rich archeological site just north of the Honokohau Harbor. Here you can find artifacts detailing the way Hawaiians lived in the past, before the time of James Cook and the civilization that followed suit.
